Practical example: The Galileo-Programme
of the Akademie Deutscher Genossenschaften

Since 2003 the Akademie Deutscher Genossenschaften
(ADG, academy of German co-operatives) in Montabaur and FutureManagementGroup AG are maintaining a cooperation to conduct a training of bankers as "FutureManagers ADG". The Galileo-Programme is designed for the practice of co-operative banks and includes all qualifications which are necessary to improve the innovation capability and competitiveness of a bank systematically.
The training consists of 21 seminar days divided over the time period of one year. Step by step, parallel to the progress of the seminar, the participants carry out their own future project in their bank. Therefore the participants are directly able to practically apply what they are learning. During a concluding colloquium the participants may present their future project and are able to acquire the title "FutureManager ADG".
The aim of the Galileo-Programme is to train the participants in the ability to
- recognize future changes and to assess their probability and importance in order to prepare themselves and their bank in time;
- recognize and exploit future changes and innovations ahead of competitors in order to improve the competitiveness of their bank;
- develop a strategic vision and consequently a future strategy for their bank;
and not at least the participants will acquire the competence to systematically apply future management in their company.
The modules of the seminar are:
- FutureManagers in co-operative banks
- The 50 most important trends and scenarios for co-operative banks
- FutureAnalysis: How to evaluate the future the right way
- OpportunityDevelopment: How to recognize the most important future markets and future opportunities
- VisionDevelopment: To determine the joint direction of the bank
- Discontinuities and scenarios: Surprises in the future
- StrategyDevelopment: How to implement the vision
- FutureProject: How to make the future
